Type 2 diabetes affects more and more children every day . But something can be done about it. Here at Muscle Works you can get the facts about diabetes prevention, and or cure and teach your family how to stay healthy for a lifetime.
Since 2001, the increasing number of obese children throughout the United States led policy makers to rank it as a critical public health threat. Since the 1970's the obesity rate has more than doubled for preschool children ages ( 2-5) and adolescents (12-19). It has more than tripled for kids 6-11. Currently, more than 9 million children age 6 or older are obese.
This increase rate of obesity is directly linked to the increase of type 2 diabetes, which includes the following predicability factors, little or no physical activity, family history of diabetes, and poor western diets. Diabetes is a metabolic disorder that affects the way the body uses sugar (glucose). Everything we eat gets broken down into glucose. Glucose then requires insulin to transport the blood glucose into the cells for energy. After we eat, the pancreas secretes the right amount of insulin into the blood. Those suffering from diabetes may not be producing enough insulin, or not at all, sometimes the body ignores the insulin altogether. The result is the build up of blood sugar, which requiers the body to get rid of all the extra through the urin or to store it as fat. Sugar is the main fuel for the body and in getting rid of it, the body runs low of energy and the body needs to eat again....and the cycle continues.
The Risks
Diabetes is considered a multi-system disease, that is, it affects many organ systems, and sometimes, at the same time. The signs of the disease are, having to urinate more than usual, feeling more thirsty than usual, and finally, losing weight for no clear reason. The risks of ignoring these signs, or not treating the disease once you know you have it, are multi-system beakdown and finally collapse. The kidneys begin to fail and dialysis is the end result. The retina begins to fracture and blindess results, cardiovascular breakdown occurs with increasing blood pressure and cholesterol and failing circulation in the feet and nose and ears, nerve degeneration occurs with permanent nerve damage in the feet and eyes. Left untreated in children, these consequences will arrive by the age of 30.
The Causes
- Sedentary Lifestyle
- No physical activity
- Western type diet high in simple carbohydrates
- Vitamine and mineral deficiency
An estimated 25% of all cases of juvenile type 2 diabetes can be prevented with 30 minutes a day of moderate physical activity alone. Type 2 diabetes can be significantly improved or resolved with weight loss alone. These two combined can prevent or reverse the condition altogether. Mineral dificiency can contribute to this disease as well. We all know that chromium and vanadium are the two major minerals that control the effect of insulin on the body. These two are considered Glucose Tolerance Factors (GTF) and they also lower total cholesterol and triglycerides while increasing HDL in the blood. Magnesium and Vitamine B6 are also critical in someone with Type 2. B6 is needed to transport magnesium into the cells, no B6, no magnesium.....
Drugs
There are too many drugs to list here, but suffice it to say that none of them are designed to be used on children !!! It has been determined that the drugs are olny effective in 40% of the cases, and for only three months, when they do work. When they start failing to work, they usually put you another, or multiple drugs but never take you off of the originals... The use of drugs for Type 2 are a treatment of laziness on the part of the doctor and the patient...
Come to see us if there is a problem with diabetes in your family, and we will put you on the right track and help get you healthy. We will educate you and give you the proper dietary changes and supplements that will resolve this deadly disease.

Wow, that's a fascinating bit of information. I once had a professor in college that was type 2 and he would go crazy when he didn't manage it right and start yelling at everyone.
